Expanded Church Response

What We Do

In order to achieve sustainable transformation, ECR builds the capacity of individual churches to identify the needs within their communities and the skills within their own congregations.  We then train the churches to develop strategic community development projects to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of their communities.  Our desire is to awaken churches to respond with love and wisdom to the needs surrounding them.

Along with the spiritual power that God has given the Church, ECR recognizes the strategic benefit of working through existing churches.  Rather than spending time and resources to develop new projects, ECR works through an already established infrastructure, the local Church. Having existed long before and probably long after any charity organization and with a potential volunteer base of millions, the Church is unmatched in its capacity to impact every segment of society. ECR’s methodology of working through local churches and faith-based organizations gives it a unique platform that encourages significant and sustainable results.

Our Work

ECR implements a variety of programs to fulfill the vision of an empowered and compassionate Church transforming lives and communities by focusing on three SET aims:  Saving Lives, Educating the Mind, and Transforming Belief and Behavior.  Within these key areas, ECR equips the Church to develop community-based interventions to meet the needs of those they serve, which includes everyone from orphans and vulnerable children to single mothers to working families to widows.

Through its work, ECR has built the capacity of over 150 local churches and faith-based organizations to respond strategically to the needs in their communities.  Through the work of these awakened churches:

  • More than 3,000 Community Caregivers have been trained to minister to the vulnerable households in their communities
  • Over 40,000 Orphans and Vulnerable Children have been supported by trained Community Caregivers
  • More than 20,000 youth and adults have been educated in HIV prevention
  • Over 6,000 people have been linked to lifesaving AIDS drugs
  • Nearly 7,000 individuals have joined Community Savings Groups where they are able to access small loans and receive business training
